FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- This is also the application that you must complete to be considered for federal and state grants & loans. (Grants are money that you may qualify for that does not need to be repaid!)
- Can be submitted December 1st (estimated date by FAFSA)
- You can include as many schools on your application as needed.
- Colleges will process your application once you are accepted.
- Pay attention to your colleges' FAFSA deadlines. Some would like your FAFSA in by a certain date (usually early to mid-spring).
- You will need parent financial information (ie: taxes) to complete. Parents can use prior-prior year taxes (2023) for the purpose of FAFSA.
- If you have parents who are separated or divorced, you would only enter the income/taxes of your primary caregiver. This does NOT mean the parent who provides more financial resources, but rather the parent you live with the most. If you live equally with both, you would select one.
- Even if you feel you may not qualify for loans/grants through FAFSA, many colleges still recommend you complete it to be certain. Some colleges also like to have it on file for scholarship opportunities. Another positive to filling it out is that in the event your or your parents' financial situation changes, you can contact your colleges financial aid office to make changes, rather than starting the FAFSA process from scratch.

- Students attending a technical, 2 or 4 year college in WI.
- Must have financial need.
- Must complete the FAFSA first and attach your Student Aid Report (SAR) to your application.
- See your School Counselor for application and more information!
- Amount of grant monies varies by need but can be up to $1800/year renewable.
- If you qualify, you will receive more information in the Spring.
