Academic Career Planning (ACP)

Academic Career Planning (ACP) is a collaboratively developed, student-driven process for planning for success in middle school, secondary school, and post-secondary academic and career development. ACP will ultimately provide opportunities for students to learn to their full potential.

The term ACP refers to both a process that helps students engage in academic and career development activities and a product that is created and maintained for the student's academic, career, and personal advancement.

Mission

To empower individuals by providing comprehensive academic guidance and career development strategies that align with their interests, skills, and aspirations. Our goal is to foster personal growth, informed decision-making, and continuous learning, ensuring that every student, every day is equipped with the resources and confidence to find and explore the career pathways that are relevant to the job market today and in the future.

Vision

Our goal is that our students can navigate their academic and professional journeys with purpose, clarity, and confidence. We will foster personal growth, informed decision-making, and strategic goal-setting to achieve meaningful success in both education and career.

Intended Outcomes

  • Improvement in academics (attendance, test scores, participation, behavior)
  • Students' exploration of academics, social/emotional skills and career readiness)
  • Community support and partnerships
  • Parent support/communication
  • Goals/objectives

Youth Apprenticeship (YA): Wisconsin's Youth Apprenticeship program is a part of a statewide School-to-Work initiative. It is designed for high school students who want hands-on learning in an occupational area at a worksite along with classroom instruction.

CLICK HERE for more Youth Apprenticeship information.

Early College Credit (ECCP) & Start College Now (SCN) Programs:  These are programs offered through the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), in partnership with the High School and Wisconsin post-secondary institutions, that allow Juniors and Seniors to take college classes while still in high school for little to no cost to the student! If you are interested in taking a course at a 4-year college, such as through UWRF, you would apply for ECCP. If you are interested in taking a course at a 2-year college, such as Northwood Technical College, you would apply through SCN. Click here for more information.

Scholarships:  New Richmond School District is proud of our local scholarship program! Thanks to the generous donations and partnership with local business, agencies, and community members, each year we are able to award between 120-160 scholarships to graduating seniors! We offer scholarships for a variety of students, and post-secondary plans, and we encourage students planning on any form of post-secondary education (4-year, 2-year, technical diploma, or certification) to apply for scholarships. All available scholarships and applications can be accessed through our Senior Planning tab on the NRHS Counseling Website.
