• Students in grades 6-12 are expected to have their chromebook fully charged and at school each day.
• Students are responsible for the care of the chromebook and any damage that may occur. 
• Charging carts are available in common areas for use throughout the day.
• Chromebooks and charging cords will be turned in at the end of the school year.
• Replacement charging cords can be purchased in the Media Center for $10.00.
• Students are expected to comply with the School District of New Richmond Acceptable Use Agreement for Technology Resources and Internet Access.

Families may purchase Device Insurance online, through Skyward Family Access, during our beginning of the year insurance enrollment window. Device Insurance may be purchased at any time throughout the school year, but after the beginning of the year enrollment window has closed, the Device Insurance must be paid for with cash or with a check made out to the School District of New Richmond. If purchasing Device Insurance after the beginning of the year enrollment window, students must bring their payment and their chromebook to the Library Media Center for inspection. When their chromebook has passed inspection the insurance payment will be added to the student's Skyward Family Access account.

Cost for Device Insurance for the 24-25 school year is $25. The Device Insurance fee may be waived or discounted for qualifying families who opt-in to share information with other programs. This opt-in is available when submitting the free/reduced benefit application in Skyward Family Access or available separately from School Nutrition. Families who qualify for the free/reduced benefits will then still need to complete the insurance purchasing process through Skyward and eFunds for Schools which will automatically adjust the fee amount.

All repairs on any school chromebook must be completed by a school technician or sent out by the district to an approved service vendor. 

• The Device Insurance covers accidental damages and provides $100 of repair credit that will be applied to repair fees that may occur throughout the school year. Any costs above and beyond $100 credit will then be the responsibility of the families to pay.

• Loss, theft, or intentional damage to the device
• Replacement chargers

The School District of New Richmond IT Department repairs our student devices in-house in an effort to keep costs as low as possible.  Costs for repairs can range from $10-$140 depending on the parts that need to be repaired or replaced.

If you choose not to purchase the Insurance Option, then you agree to pay the full amount for repairs or replacements due to damage, theft and all other losses.
