Speak Up, Speak Out

The School District of New Richmond is dedicated to ensuring a safe learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. To enhance school safety, the district is partnering with the Speak Up, Speak Out program (SUSO), overseen by the State of Wisconsin's Office of School Safety. The State of Wisconsin's Office of School Safety offers a 24/7 tip line through the SUSO School Resource Center for reporting potential threats or criminal activities targeting schools, students, or staff. This service ensures quick and confidential responses and addresses concerns such as bullying, drug use, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and more. As part of the SUSO network, we encourage you to use this resource to help maintain a safe and supportive environment for our students and school community.

Creating safe schools and communities is a collective effort, and anyone can submit a tip. Trained resource center staff at SUSO receive these tips and forward relevant information to local law enforcement and schools. SUSO helps our school community stay safe, address safety concerns, and provide necessary support. Students and families are urged to contact their building administrator or SUSO with any threats to school safety.

Hello! My name is Officer Aaron Anderson, and I am the School Resource Officer for The School District of New Richmond. I have held the School Resource Officer position for 5 years. I have been in Law Enforcement for 12 years and with the New Richmond Police Department for 10 years. I am a certified instructor with the WI Department of Justice in the topics of EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations and Pursuit), Vehicle Contacts, and High-Risk Traffic Stops. I serve on the CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) and Riot Task Force. I am certified in Forensic Child Interviewer. I am a certified ALICE Instructor and provide ALICE training to our School District of New Richmond employees on an annual basis. I am also trained in Building Threat and Vulnerability Assessments, Tactical Entry Concepts, and ALERRT (Active Law Enforcement Rapid Response Tactics).

ALICE Training

The School District of New Richmond welcomes you to learn about our School Safety measures and tips. School Safety is our top priority, and we encourage our students, faculty, and staff to support each other in our safety efforts. Our School District of New Richmond new hires are trained on the ALICE Protocol.

A = Alert (Alert is your first notification of danger).

L = Lockdown (Barricade the room and prepare to evacuate or counter if needed).

I - Inform (Communicate the violent intruder's location and direction in real-time).

C = Counter (Create noise, movement, distance, and distraction with the intent of reducing the shooter's ability to shoot accurately. Counter is NOT fighting).

E = Evacuate (When safe to do so, remove yourself from the danger zone).
