    • School Meal Payment Update

School Meal Payment Update Information provided in the caption
Dear SDNR Families: Our SDNR School Nutrition Department is excited to announce some new changes

      Dear SDNR Families:

Our SDNR School Nutrition Department is excited to announce some new changes that will be in effect for the new school year. We will be upgrading our systems and changing our electronic payment processing vendor. We hope this will provide a better experience for both our students and families. All of your students' information and current balance will be automatically transferred over to the new system.

Beginning July 1, 2025, we will be switching our payment processing vendor to eFunds for Schools (EFS). This is the same platform that is used for paying fees for your students' accounts each year. This switch will offer a number of benefits, such as: Significantly lower fees per payment; A much higher payment limit per transaction; Depositing lunch funds at the same time as paying for other student fees; Paying as a guest rather than needing to set up an account.

Our current payment vendor, MySchoolBucks, will no longer be active or accepting payments after June 30, 2025. If you have auto payment set up through MySchoolBucks, you will need to disable it before this date. An Autopay feature is available through EFS, and can be set to occur on either a set schedule or when a balance reaches a certain threshold.

In addition to these benefits, you will now be able to see your students' account balance and purchase history from your Skyward Family Access page. All information will be available under the "Food Service" tab on the left. From here, you can also apply for free or reduced meal benefits or make a payment into the account.

You may access the EFS payment portal using this link: https://payments.efundsforschools.com/v3/districts/56417/. You can also access it through your Skyward family access or download the SDNR Tigers app on the App Store. You will need your student's 7-digit District ID number or your Family ID number to add funds. This information will be sent to you separately in another email in the coming weeks.

Please feel free to contact Nikke Hafemeyer (nhafemeyer@newrichmond.k12.wi.us) with any questions you may have.

We are excited to share that Starr Elementary has been recognized as a Model Professional Learning

We are excited to share that Starr Elementary has been recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work® school, by Solution Tree, a world-wide education company that empowers educators to raise student achievement! This prestigious honor is held by only four elementary schools in Wisconsin and just 111 schools nationwide, making it a truly extraordinary achievement for Starr and our entire district.

This recognition celebrates Starr Elementary’s dedication to collaboration, shared leadership, and a relentless focus on student learning - principles that align with our district-wide Strategic Plan of Growth For All. Starr’s culture of teamwork, trust, and high expectations serves as a shining example of how prioritizing students and embracing continuous improvement leads to exceptional outcomes.

While this award specifically honors Starr Elementary, it also reflects the collective efforts across all SDNR schools. By working together under the shared vision of our Strategic Plan, we are building a foundation for success that supports excellence in every classroom, for every student, every day.

Please join us in congratulating Starr Elementary on this incredible accomplishment and celebrating the impact of our shared commitment to the fearless pursuit of excellence through the School District of New Richmond. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey to success.

Exciting news from the NRHS Ag Room:

Breanna and Eli filled out scholarship applications for the FFA Washington Leadership Conference (WLC). Eli was selected as a recipient and will attend this premier summer gathering in D.C. for agricultural student leaders. WLC inspires FFA members to become changemakers in their schools and communities. Each day of the conference focuses on a different principle taught through the context of our nation's capital. These principles include exploration, encouragement, advocacy, and service. At the end of our week there, he will leave with a Living to Serve Plan he can implement back here!

Agriscience Instructor Rachel Sauvola hasn't taken students to D.C. in more than 20 years!

Eli also just completed his State FFA Degree. This is the top degree you can earn at the state level and is usually accomplished senior year or after you graduate from high school. Eli set the goal to get it his junior year and worked very hard on the 17-page application highlighting his Supervised Agricultural Experience project details, financials, community service, skills and competencies learned, and a whole lot more. Ultimately, he has taken 360 hours of Agriscience courses, worked more than 600 hours, and earned/productively invested $2000 in his SAE projects.

There have only been a handful of other NR students who have earned this degree when they were a junior. He will be awarded this honor at the Wisconsin State FFA Convention in June. As a point of reference, our last recipient was Rose, who is presently finishing her student teaching for Agricultural Education in Clear Lake.

We are excited to announce that after months of thoughtful planning and collaboration with many dedicated individuals around the district, the construction phase of our facilities referendum is set to begin in the summer of 2025. Countless staff members, community members, and experts contributed to designing a plan that will greatly enhance our district’s learning environments. As we move forward, we will continue to keep you informed by providing updates on our district website, ensuring that you stay connected to the progress every step of the way.

In order to prioritize student learning and include additional summer construction days, the School District of New Richmond has developed a 2-year school calendar to help staff and families plan ahead for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. This 2-year school calendar was approved by the SDNR Board of Education on Monday, November 18, 2024.

By sharing the calendars well in advance, we hope to provide ample time for everyone to make any necessary arrangements. These calendars are now available on our district website, and I encourage you to review them as there are adjustments compared to previous years.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we move forward with these important projects. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Record-Breaking Season: 8th Grade Discus Athletes Rewrite School History!

This track and field season was one for the record books. Eighth-graders Ella and Zoe made history by breaking a school discus record that had stood for an incredible 49 years!

The original record, set in 1975 by Tracy Singerhouse, was a throw of 83' 5". This season, despite the weather cutting the schedule to just three meets, Ella and Zoe engaged in a friendly but fierce competition that pushed both of them to new heights.

At the NR Invite, Ella was the first to break the long-standing record. Not to be outdone, Zoe claimed the top spot at the Hudson meet with an even farther throw. The rivalry came to an exciting peak at the final meet in Amery, where both girls once again surpassed the original record. Ella finished the season on top with a stunning throw of 91' 2"—nearly 8 feet beyond the 1975 mark.

In a heartwarming full-circle moment, both girls had the opportunity to meet Tracy Singerhouse, the original record holder. The three posed for a photo together, capturing a powerful moment of past and present united by shared excellence.

Congratulations to Ella and Zoe for an incredible season, and for showing us all what perseverance, teamwork, and a little healthy competition can achieve!

Congratulations to our outstanding 8th grade track team for breaking the school 4x200 meter relay record, which was a record that had stood strong for the past two seasons! The record was set by Colton, Evan, Ben, and Austyn with a time of 1:43.01 in 2023.

Hunter, Trennon, Tyson, and Ashtyn showcased incredible teamwork, speed, and determination as they crossed the finish line with a record-breaking time of 1:42.21, making history for our school. Their hard work at practices, dedication to improvement, and relentless team spirit truly paid off on the track.

We're so proud of these athletes for setting the bar even higher and representing our school with excellence. Go Tigers!

In May, 6th graders once again enjoyed Camp Wapo Week. Sixth-grade Camp has been a tradition at NRMS for 46 years! While it has changed over the years, students enjoy opportunities to participate in classes in and outdoors at Camp Wapogasset.

The Camp Wapogasset experience is considered to be a unique opportunity for students and staff to interact with nature in an outdoor setting. Camp Wapogasset is located northwest of Amery, WI. The Camp Wapo field trip is planned as an outdoor-educational experience to give students first-hand exposure to many environmental concepts and ideas that have been learned in the classroom. In addition to interacting with nature, this field trip opportunity provides for social interaction with those attending the camp experience.

Both houses were at camp during the school day from Tuesday through Thursday. On Monday and Friday, students participated in activities while at NRMS that kicked off and wrapped up our Wapo Week.
