District Solo/Ensemble Festival
7th and 8th Grade Choir students are eligible to participate in the District Solo/Ensemble Festival. This festival gives students the opportunity to perform a solo, duet, or in a small ensemble. They will choose and practice their music with guidance from Mr. Dahle, and perform their music for a judge who will give them an oral and written critique of their performance. Music chosen for this festival is selected from the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) state music lists. You will select your music at the end of December, and sign-up for the festival in early January. Students who perform a Class A piece may be eligible to move on to the state level of performance.
WCDA All-State Choir
In the fall of the school year, 8th grade choir members are eligible to audition for the Wisconsin Choral Directors’ Association (WCDA) All-State Choir. Selected singers will spend a weekend of rehearsals in January with other singers from across the state. The weekend culminates with a concert presented as part of the WCDA Convention. This is a fabulous experience, and more advanced 8th Grade singers are encouraged to audition. There is a participation/registration fee which will cover meals and lodging for the weekend.
WSMA State Honors Choir
In the spring of the school year, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are eligible to audition for the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Middle Level State Honors Choir. Selected students will spend a weekend of rehearsals in October of the following year, with other singers from across the state. The weekend culminates with a concert presented as part of the WSMA Convention. More advanced singers are strongly encouraged to audition. There is a participation/registration fee which will cover meals and lodging for the weekend.
SCVMEA 8th Grade Festival
8th Grade Choir students are eligible to participate in the SCVMEA Festival. This festival gives students the opportunity to perform in an ensemble of 8th grade performers from the St. Croix Valley Conference. Students practice their music with guidance from Mr. Dahle, and then attend the festival held at St. Croix Central Middle School, ending with a concert. This festival involves 8th grade students from band, choir, and orchestra.
Armonia Voci
For 8th Grade treble voices only, this ensemble is in its third year running. This group takes the place of the Singing in Wisconsin: Treble Choir after the festival in November. Students rehearse every other day with Mr. Dahle during their lunch hour to work on fun/popular music that is often selected by students. It’s a fun break from the usual rehearsal regiment and creates a fun community within the choir family. No audition is necessary.
Do Re Migos
For 8th Grade bass voices only, this ensemble is in its third year running. This group takes the place of the Singing in Wisconsin: Bass Choir after the festival in November. Students rehearse every other day with Mr. Dahle during their lunch hour to work on fun/popular music that is often selected by students. This ensemble the year with a performance of the world famous “Men of the Chorus.” No audition is necessary.
