An annual fundraising event for the New Richmond School District’s Happy Kids Backpack Program. This program provides vouchers for fresh food at no cost, and school-time snacks, to families under financial hardship throughout the entire school year. The intention is for the food to nourish children over the weekend when school meals are not available. Our program also supports families who otherwise may not be able to provide snacks to their children during the school day.
In the current 2024-2025 school year the New Richmond Happy Kids Backpack program is serving around 181 households each week! Almost 10% growth from last year at this time! The cost for each household is approximately $10.00-$15.00 per week. These funds support over 700 family members and we expect the need for our support to grow. Our fundraising event is organized by volunteers and runs on a zero administrative budget. Services and products are donated at little or no cost so that all of the money raised can help others.
