SDNR COVID-19 Positive Case Weekly Update and More 1-14-22
Dear Student, Staff, and Parents,
Attached is the SDNR COVID-19 Positive Case Weekly Update for the week of January 10, 2022.
- The SDNR has been pleased to offer a free and easily accessible COVID-19 testing resource since December 1st, 2021 through our partnership with the state of Wisconsin and The COVID CLINIC for SDNR students, staff, and families. Starting (1-11-22) our testing facility at the Bridge House @ 451 East 5th Street, New Richmond, WI 54017, will not be able to offer Antigen testing until further notice. Again, the Antigen test will not be available but the PRC test will be available. The nationwide shortage of BinaxNOW antigen rapid test kits combined with a sharp increase in testing demand across the country has significantly affected our DHS's ability to fulfill orders. We appreciate your patience as we continue to monitor the information from the Department of Health Services (DHS).

SDNR-Free COVID-19 Testing Site Starting 12-2-21
Good Afternoon,
The School District of New Richmond, along with many other school districts throughout Wisconsin, are fortunate enough to be provided an opportunity to have COVID-19 testing done within our district for any students, staff, and their household family members.
With the increasing difficulty in obtaining a free and easily accessible COVID-19 testing resource, we have partnered with the state of Wisconsin and The COVID CLINIC to provide a free and convenient option to our New Richmond families. This walk-in testing is provided through a grant program and is funded through the Wisconsin Department of Health.
Walk-In Testing will be available from 7:00 to 4:30 each day school is in session. The testing site is located at “The Bridge House” at 451 East 5th Street, New Richmond. Please park on the street and use the front door of the facility.
The test will include both the Antigen Rapid test and the more accurate PCR test. Both are conducted with the more comfortable shallow nasal swab by the staff of The COVID CLINIC. You will be notified by text message when results are available. An email including a secure link to the test result will be sent to the email address you provide to COVID CLINIC as well. You can view and print all test results from this secure link. Rapid test results are typically available in 30 minutes and the send out PCR test is available in 1-3 business days. If the Rapid test is negative, the individual tested will be allowed to return to school/work with the understanding that the PCR test is pending and that test will ultimately decide whether the individual is negative or positive.
Pre-registration is encouraged to expedite the processes and can be completed online at: Register.covidconnect.wi.gov or register online when arriving at the testing site.
Testing will NOT be administered to any student considered a minor without a parent being
present. In addition, both consent and registration are required to be completed by a parent for any minor child prior to testing. Consents can be found with the school’s Health Assistant, on site at the testing location, on our website, as well as attached to this letter.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about this exciting new resource,

SDNR Tiger Launch Update 11-10-21
Dear Students, Staff, and Parents,
One year ago, we saw a surge both locally and regionally in COVID-19 cases. Currently, we find ourselves in the same situation with rising case numbers. To date, we have had 50 days of direct instruction with all our students in 4K through 12th grade. These daily interactions allowed staff to build relationships, offer face-to-face academic instruction, provide daily meals, and the opportunity for students and staff to start the year with a level of routine despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Since the start of the school year, District staff have also been dealing with increased staff shortages due to sickness and/or a substitute shortage. Once again, flexibility is needed to contend with the ever-changing landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of these circumstances, it is time to make a short-term change with the District calendar for all 4K-12 students and staff as a first line of defense to combat this recent surge. Please read the attachment for more detailed information.
What are the calendar changes?
- November 22, 2021 No school for students and staff. This is a calendar change.
- November 23, 2021 No school for students and staff. This is a calendar change.
- November 24 - November 26, 2021 Thanksgiving Break as previously planned.
- November 29, 2021 School resumes for all students grades K-12 as previously planned.
Additional mitigation strategies to be considered by the SDNR Board of Education in order and if necessary:
- Reinstate mandatory quarantines for close contacts. If you have been exposed to COVID-19, even if you are fully vaccinated, get tested for COVID-19 5 to 7 days after exposure and monitor for symptoms. If you are not fully vaccinated, you should also quarantine immediately after being notified of your exposure to protect yourself, your family, and your community. If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to quarantine but you should wear a mask in public indoor spaces for 14 days or until you receive a negative test result.
- Reinstate masking or face covering requirements K-5.
- Reinstate remote learning for K-5 students.
These changes will assist in the following ways:
- The calendar change would create a natural break for students, staff, and families as we deal with another surge in COVID-19 cases. Students and Staff would then return on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Other Announcements:
- All NRMS extra-curricular activities will be canceled on November 22, 2021 and November 23, 2021.
- All NRHS extra-curricular activities will proceed as planned.
- SCCPH Vaccination Clinic for students age 5-11 only on November 12, 2021 @ NRMS.
- Tiger Pack will also be closed on November 22, 2021 and November 23, 2021.
Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate our way through the current pandemic challenges. We continue to monitor and make appropriate changes as needed at all levels. The staff is dedicated to providing the best education possible and your help in this matter is much appreciated.
Respectfully,
Patrick B. Olson

SDNR Tiger Launch Update 10-8-21
Dear Student, Staff, and Parents,
The Wisconsin Association of School Boards has set October 4-8, 2021 as Wisconsin School Board Appreciation Week. This is a time to build awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected board of education plays in our communities. It takes strong schools to build a strong community and these men and women devote countless hours to making sure our schools are helping every child learn to their potential. They make the tough decisions every month and spend many hours studying education issues and regulations in order to provide the kind of accountability our citizens expect. The students and staff of the School District of New Richmond would like to thank these dedicated individuals for their commitment, leadership, support, and the vision they provide to our community. Please take a moment to thank these individuals when you see them.

We have now reached a point of being contacted by SCCPH (St. Croix County Public Health) based on our 2-week NRMS COVID-19 cases, especially at the 8th grade level. Due to the data below, it is now determined that we had an "outbreak" at the New Richmond Middle School. An outbreak is defined as 2 or more cases that were considered a close contact and have now turned positive by SCCPH.
Please see the attached letter for more detailed information.
As always, our priority is the safety of our students and staff. Our goal is to continue to provide in-person learning. We need your assistance by taking prudent steps to limit COVID-19 risks to our students, staff, and the community. As a reminder, please keep your child home if they are displaying symptoms as outlined in the SDNR COVID-19 Exclusion Chart.

SDNR Tiger Launch Plan 2021-2022
Dear SDNR Students, Staff and Parents,
The School District of New Richmond (SDNR) Board of Education approved the Tiger Launch Plan for the start of the 2021-22 school year at a special work session today. The SDNR successfully offered in-person learning for the 2020-21 school year along with over two-thousand students attending Summer Stretch, JumpStart, and Tiger Pack this summer. These successes are due to the tremendous support and dedication of students, staff, families, and our community working together. We learned a great deal over the past eighteen months and have used these lessons in preparation for the 2021-22 school year and this current Tiger Launch Plan.
The purpose of the Tiger Launch Plan is to maximize learning opportunities for the 2021-22 school year. Our intent is to provide in-person learning, while also taking prudent steps to limit COVID-19 risks to our students, staff, and community while adhering to any applicable public health orders and guidance. Please note this plan does not cover all situations associated with the COVID-19 but it does satisfy requirements as outlined by Federal ESSER funding requirements.
• Please click HERE to view the 2021-22 Tiger Launch Plan
The 2021-22 Tiger Launch Plan is based on available public health information and predicated on the trajectory of public health data centered here in New Richmond, St. Croix County while also monitoring regional and state data. This plan is a constant work in progress and based on public health assumptions and subject to change. In the event adjustments are needed based on low staffing levels, COVID-19 data, further CDC/SCCPH guidance, and/or mandates, the SDNR Board of Education will consider this new information and make appropriate changes as needed.
Finally, please remember you help determine your child’s attitude and set them up for success by teaching them to make the best of the current situation. Be a sounding board for their worries and their disappointments while staying positive and model perseverance. We look forward to another great year here at the School District of New Richmond.
Respectfully,
Patrick B. Olson
