Distance Learning Days
Distance Learning Days are intended to provide an opportunity for teaching and learning to continue when school cancellations are necessary. This eliminates the need for the district to add student contact minutes back to our calendar at the end of the school year.
Goals
- To continue the learning process in academic areas by communicating expectations of learning.
- To ensure student work covers review and/or enrichment content that is relevant and timely to their current classroom instruction.
- To ensure all staff are reachable by students, parents, caregivers, etc., to facilitate and support instruction.
- To create a plan for learning with equity considerations, since some of our students do not/will not have wifi access.
Elementary Distance Learning Choice Boards
The School District of New Richmond Choice Board provides the opportunity for students to learn outside of the classroom. Students should choose at least one activity from each subject area column (Reading, Writing, Math, SCI/SS, Specials ) and place a check on the activities completed. A caregiver/parent/guardian is asked to sign the bottom of the form. Students, please return this sheet to your teacher within 3 days upon your return to school. In the case that a student has a question for their teacher, office hours will be held via phone, email or zoom, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., or by appointment.
Student Expectations for MS/HS
Distance learning days are still considered school days, but your lessons and assignments will come from your teacher via Google Classroom/Apps folder. Students are responsible for all the information and assignments given that day. Your teachers will work their normal schedule and will hold office hours from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to provide help and answer any questions you may have via email, phone or zoom.
- Attendance: Check In with their Homeroom (MS) or Tiger Time (HS) teacher for attendance purposes any time between 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on the day of school’s cancellation.
- Complete classroom work as identified by their teachers.
- Seek help and support from their classroom teachers as needed via phone, email or zoom during teacher's office hours of 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., or by appointment.
- Take a Chromebook and charging cord home every day in the event that school gets canceled - if you do not have a device at home to complete work.
- If the student is ill, parents should call them in sick for attendance purposes.
