About Me:

I grew up in Wauwatosa, WI and graduated from UW-Madison with my degree in Elementary Education. While teaching 8^th grade English in Whitefish Bay, WI, I completed my Middle School Teaching Certification and a Master’s Degree. 

I married Chad in 1998, and we moved to Brookings, SD where I taught middle school English.  Then, a relocation to Ft. Collins, CO where I taught 6th grade English/Social Studies.  A few years later, we landed in Des Moines, IA and I continued teaching and founded my nationwide company, WittFitt, with the mission of promoting movement-based classrooms. 

For the past 18 years, my business has filled me with so much joy, as I have been lucky enough to collaborate with teachers, parents and administrators to create engaging classrooms. Though I remained connected to education through WittFitt, I missed the day-to-day student interactions, and decided to get back to the classroom.  When substituting this spring, I fell in love with teaching all over again, and I’m so excited to teach at NRMS! 

Chad and I live in Hudson with our daughter Grace (20 - a junior at UWSP) and our son Ian (16, and blessed with an extra chromosome  - also known as ‘Down syndrome.’) We have 3 crazy cats: Chip, Skip and Rosemary.

I love doing puzzles, exercising/yoga, reading, traveling, writing my blog, advocating for special needs, watching Ian play hockey, cooking with Chad, and relaxing with my family.
