Welcome back

August 2009

We are looking forward to serving you for the 2009-2010 school year.  Last school year we accomplished many improvements in service and facilities and look forward to moving to a new high school in the next year.

Children need healthy meals to learn.  The New Richmond School District plans its menus to meet the nutritional needs of all ages served per the United States Department of Agriculture and we follow the national guidelines to lower total intake of fat, saturated/trans fat, salt and sugar.

Students may participate in the computerized meal program or they may bring their own lunches.  Please keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold when sending meals from home.  The School Nutrition Program involves breakfast, lunch, ala Carte and extra milk purchases.

The School Nutrition Department prepares and serves more than 2500 meals daily.  The Elementary and Middle School students have a choice of several entrees each day.  High School students choose from a variety of entrée items or Ala Carte each day.  Vegetarian options are available each day at all school sites.  Nutrient information is available upon request.

This is how our meal program works:

ID Numbers

The meal program has one account number which is a Student Meal ID number or PIN, which the student enters when taking milk or eating a meal.  Each student has a different number and no two students’ numbers are the same.  If your child had a meal ID number last year it will remain the same for this year.  New students will receive an ID number the first day of school.  All students in grades K-5 will be given a meal card on the first day of school to help in learning their PIN number.  Previously we had a family account and then student accounts under the family.  We now have only student accounts. Our new system will simplify monitoring of what your children have purchased, but will require payment per student.

Depositing Money

Money can be deposited several ways.  The student may bring the money to school, you may mail your deposit directly to District Office at 701 East Eleventh Street, you may drop off your deposit in our night deposit box located outside of the District Office or in the gray box located inside the District Office during normal business hours, or you may make an on-line payment by credit card or checking/savings account through www.mynutrikids.com.  (See below for instructions on how to make a payment on-line).  You can also set up your account to send you low balance e-mail notifications.  Remember to use your student’s ID number from our student database Skyward system when asked for a student ID number. Money received at the District Office before 9:00 a.m. will appear on the student’s lunch account balance that day.  Money received at the District Office after 9:00 a.m. will be credited to the following day.  Any money received at the school buildings will also be credited the following day.  Please make checks payable to SCHOOL DISTRICT OF NEW RICHMOND – FOOD SERVICE.  Cash payments are not recommended.  Always mark your check or envelope with your child’s name and student meal ID number.  If we receive one payment per family the amount will be equally divided between the students in your family.

Low Balances

Our automated phone system will call three times a week if your child’s balance falls below $9.00 per student.  Please let us know if you have a change in address or new phone number by calling 243-8402. Your child will also be notified of a low balance as they go through the lunch line at the 4-12 grade levels.  You can also set up account e-mail notification through www.MyNutriKids.com

Viewing Your Account and Making On-Line Payments

Click here to go to http://www.MyNutrikids.com.

From this site you will create your account and add money to your child’s school meal account.  All you need is your child’s name, Skyward student ID number and school ZIP code.

Things to know:

  1. If you have more than one child in the District you can handle all online prepayments from the same online account.
  2. Payments may be made through an existing PayPal account or with a major credit or debit card.
  3. In order to use the online prepayment service, a small convenience fee for each transaction will be assessed to cover the bank fees.  The convenience fee is $1.75 per deposit transaction.  Parents placing money on multiple meal accounts will only be assessed the $1.75 fee once per deposit transaction.  New Richmond School District will not profit from the use of this site.

We are very excited to offer these services, however if you choose not to take advantage of the online prepayment service you may continue to made advance payments via check, which should be made payable to the New Richmond School District Food Service Department.  Please write your child’s full name on the check and please make payments per child rather than per family.  If one check is received the money will be equally divided between the student accounts.

Negative Balance

Once your family balance is at negative $5.00, your child will not be allowed to eat the regular lunch. Your child will be served a peanut butter or cheese sandwich and milk.  A fee if $1.00 will be charged to your account.  Ala Carte items cannot be purchased if the student account has a zero or negative balance.

Meal Schedules

Be sure to consult the Student Handbook for meal times at each school site.  Please feel free to join your child for lunch periodically and try our menu items.  We welcome your input.
