The School Board is the governing body of the District. It is comprised of seven local citizens each elected to three-year terms. The School Board establishes policies and goals and has final control of all district matters with the framework set by the State Legislature and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
The District Administrator is an ex-officio member of the Board and chief executive officer of the school district. He is responsible for advising the Board on all matters and for executing Board policies and decisions.
School Board meetings are generally scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the district office. Occasionally meeting times and places are adjusted because of calendar conflicts or other school and community events. An Open Forum is held at the beginning of each regularly scheduled School Board meeting. The purpose of the Open Forum is to allow district residents to communicate directly with the School Board regarding school district issues or concerns. The Board may discuss an item and ask for clarification but retains the right to respond or not as they wish. Additional guidelines regarding the Open Forum are available from the district office.
Inquiries, individual concerns, or problems of any sort can be directed to the classroom teacher, the building principal, the district administrator or the School Board. Minutes of board meetings are published regularly in the official district newspaper, The New Richmond News. School Board agendas are posted at the district office. Agendas are also made available to the news media and others at each School Board meeting.
